Located in Balfour, British Columbia, Western Pacific Marine has been providing Ferry Services for the Province of British Columbia since 2004. We are proud to offer this free ferry service located on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake, surrounded by the beautiful Selkirk mountains where we are centrally located between Vancouver, British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy world class skiing and awesome powder just minutes away in our winter months and in spring and summer enjoy, golf, hiking, mountain biking and an abundance of water activities.

Our marine personnel are Transport Canada trained and certified with a focus on customer service and quality assurance. At Western Pacific Marine, our crews are focused on efficiency, reliability and safety while operating our vessels on Kootenay Lake. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of engine room personnel on that watch, as required under C.S.A as well as a complete knowledge of the vessels and ferry systems propulsion machinery and equipment for safe and efficient operation and maintenance in accordance with standing orders and Transport Canada requirements.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the safe and productive operation of main and auxiliary machinery.
- Overseeing Operation of engine room under emergency and drill conditions.
- Operating, servicing, maintaining and carrying out running repairs on ancillary on-board systems and equipment.
- Supervising and training of Engine room staff.
- Compiling and Maintaining logs and reports regarding performance, operation and maintenance
- Conducting tests and measurements to check equipment performance and manufacturers tolerances and correctly reporting.
- Supervises,



controls and orders fuel.
- Conveys technical and conceptual information to personnel as required.
- Performs other related duties.

Requirements
- A 2nd Class ( Motor) Marine Engineers Certificate or higher.
- Experience in the Marine Industry as a 2nd Class Engineer.
