About Inscend AI

Inscend AI is a Toronto-based AI engineering and advisory firm serving financial and professional services, government and non-profit organizations.

We help clients solve business problems with practical AI solutions that deliver measurable results. Our capabilities span AI strategy, solution architecture, multi-agent systems, intelligent automation, performance evaluation and optimization, AI governance, and ROI measurement.

The role

As an AI & Automation Engineer, you will be a hands-on technical lead on client engagements, taking ownership of technical delivery from requirements through deployment and ongoing optimization. You will work closely with Inscend AI and client business and technical teams to turn business requirements into reliable, working AI solutions.

What you'll do

- Contribute to solution architecture and design, including technology selection and implementation decisions.
- Build AI agents, multi-agent systems and automations that solve specific client problems and deliver a measurable return on investment.
- Integrate AI solutions with business systems such as CRM, ERP, document management, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, using REST APIs, webhooks and automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, UiPath, Zapier or Make.
- Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) so AI solutions can work from an organization’s own documents and data.
- Test,

monitor and optimize AI performance across accuracy, latency, reliability and cost.
- Implement security, privacy and access controls.
- Document solution architecture, integrations and operating procedures, and support client handover so teams can maintain and operate solutions after deployment.

Required qualifications

- 3+ years of software, data or automation engineering experience, including hands-on delivery of LLM-based solutions to production.
- Demonstrated ability to independently own technical delivery, make implementation decisions and troubleshoot production issues.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including back-end development, APIs, databases and system design.
- Strong Python skills; working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience building AI agents and LLM applications, including RAG and tool or function calling.
- Experience building workflow automations and integrating systems through REST APIs and webhooks.
- Production experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
- Experience testing and evaluating AI output, and monitoring AI systems in production.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD and containers.

- Explicit communication with both business and technical stakeholders.

Tech stack

Our tools vary by client engagement; experience with every platform listed is not required.

- LLMs and AI services: OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Amazon Bedrock
- Cloud: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud
- Microsoft ecosystem: Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365, SharePoint
- Automation: Power Automate, UiPath, Zapier, Make, n8n
- Data: SQL databases, vector databases
- Engineering: Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, REST APIs, Git, Docker, CI/CD

Nice to have

- Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), LLM observability and tracing tools, or fine-tuning and deploying open-source models.
- Experience integrating with and automating workflows in CRM and ERP platforms, such as Salesforce, HubSpot or Microsoft Dynamics 365, through their APIs and automation tools.
- Front-end development experience, including TypeScript and React, for internal tools and dashboards.

Engagement

- Type: Contract or part-time
- Location: Remote, Canada

Eligibility

- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Final candidates may be asked to complete reference and background checks where required by client engagements.
