MDLD Restaurants Inc. — Department Manager, Food Department

Full-time, permanent — 40 hours per week

Salary: $45,000–$50,000 per year

The role

Lead the Kitchen/Food Department alongside shift management responsibilities, ensuring guests receive protected, high-quality food quickly and accurately.

Responsibilities

- Train and coach kitchen staff on procedures, including new and promotional menu items.
- Manage inventory, stockroom standards, product date controls and adequate supplies.
- Control food costs and review weekly and month-end inventory results.
- Review business plans, restaurant scorecards and PEAK trends; set measurable targets for kitchen speed, food quality, food safety and inventory performance.
- Maintain daily food safety and handwashing routines and communicate priorities and action plans to the team.
- Meet with the General Manager weekly or biweekly to review progress, opportunities and required adjustments.




- Develop the support team, maintain development plans and tracking, and provide performance review input.
- Arrange team-lead coverage for meetings and communication during absences.

Role development Before or upon assignment, complete or plan to complete HU Online Leading Quality, Clearview Foundations Training, Advancing Your Shift Leadership Program and Department Leader Getting Started Program. Review Service / Production / Assembly, Food Safety and Inventory Management system maps. Address learning gaps in the monthly management planner and individual development plan.
