DOG GROOMER / PET SHOP ASSISTANT

South Surrey / White Rock Area

Position: Full-Time or Part-Time

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced, reliable and customer-focused Dog Groomer / Pet Shop Assistant to join our team.

This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in producing quality grooms, genuinely loves working with dogs and enjoys being part of a friendly, qualified team.

The successful candidate will be comfortable grooming independently while also helping with day-to-day shop operations when not grooming.

Responsibilities

Dog Grooming

● Perform professional dog grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, scissoring and finishing.

● Complete quality haircuts on a variety of dog breeds, sizes and coat types.

● Follow customer instructions and grooming preferences.

● Handle dogs safely, patiently and compassionately.

● Maintain high grooming standards and pay attention to finishing details.

Shop Operations

● Assist with customer check-in and check-out.

● Help coordinate appointments and communicate with customers.

● Accurately process customer payments and enter sales into the point-of-sale system.

● Assist with bathing, brushing, drying and general shop duties when not grooming.

● Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming environment.

● Keep grooming tables, tubs, equipment and floors clean throughout the day.

● Help with laundry and general housekeeping.

Customer Service

● Provide friendly, professional customer service.

● Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.

● Address customer requests and concerns professionally.

● Work as part of a team to maintain customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience

● Previous professional dog grooming experience is required.

● Ability to groom a variety of breeds and coat types.





● Strong understanding of safe dog handling and grooming techniques.

● Excellent attention to detail and finishing work.

● Good time management and organizational skills.

● Friendly, dependable and professional attitude.

● Comfortable assisting with shop duties and cleaning when not grooming.

● Willingness to learn, accept feedback and continue developing grooming skills.

● Availability for some weekend shifts is an asset.

Compensation

Compensation will be based on grooming experience, demonstrated ability and the agreed employment arrangement.

Commission opportunities for grooming services and hourly compensation for shop duties will be discussed with qualified candidates.
