Key Responsibilities

As our Heavy-Duty Red Seal Journeyman Mechanic, you will play a critical role in keeping our fleet running safely and efficiently. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Managing the Garage: You will be the onsite supervisor of our brand-current maintenance garage at the Wild Cove Transfer Station location. You will manage the daily workflow of the garage including asset management, procurement, and inventory. You will have an office in the garage with a computer and be provide a cell phone for work.
- Maintenance & Repair: Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment and commercial trucks and trailers, e.g., excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, pickups, commercial trucks, 53’ walking floor and compaction trailers, etc.
- Diagnostics: Using computerized diagnostic equipment and traditional methods to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues.
- Computer Skills: Keeping accurate computerized, up-to-date records of all maintenance work including inventory (used, in stock, and procurement), motor vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance schedules. Need to be proficient in Microsoft office (mainly Excel and Word) and comfortable wiith email and texting.
- Safety Compliance:



Maintaining a clean workspace and strictly adhering to all company and OH&S; safety protocols.
- Oversight / Supervision: overseeing, training and instructing mechanics helper / parts person in day-to-day activities
- Technical Skills: Would need a deep understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and heavy-duty electrical systems.
- Tools: Must possess a comprehensive set of personal hand tools. (Annual tool allowance and PPE provided)
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental condition (garage setting, sometimes exposed to the elements, noise, etc.).
- Licensing: Requires a valid drivers license with a clean abstract.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Experience:
- Working with heavy-duty equipment and commercial fleets.: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate (Red Seal) (preferred)
