JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a client and family centered model of care and, in accordance with Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) values, “We Care for Everyone, We are Always Learning, and We strive for Better Results”, the position promotes a safe and respectful working setting for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Operates domestic and non-domestic washers and dryers and performs laundry duties such as sorting, folding and weighing linens. Performs a variety of light and heavy cleaning duties such as sweeping, damp mopping, scrubbing, polishing floors, vacuuming carpets and dusting and polishing furniture. Washing walls, windows and ceilings using a variety of tools such as brooms, mops, cloths.

Operates equipment such as vacuums. Performs a variety of duties within a food service operation such as washing and peeling vegetables/fruit, prepares items such as tea, coffee and toast.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Grade 10 plus one year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to organize work

Ability to operate related equipment.





The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
