Job Title: Machinist- Conventional Machines

Job Duties and Skills

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints or study sample parts to determine machining operations to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations
- Compute dimensions and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional machine tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as turning, milling, boring, drilling, and other operations
- Use indicators and other tools to set up fixtures, set tool holders and cutting tools, touch-off tooling and make adjustments to ensure adherence to tight tolerance dimensions




- Maintain tight tolerances and verify dimensions of components for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as a micrometers, verniers, height gauges
- Deburr and inspect parts and ensure conformance to quality and drawing requirements.
- Maintain quality of parts and report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor and QC personnel
- Complete inspection reports (ITP) and other quality related paper work, as required
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on assigned machining/work center
- Operate conventional lathes, milling machines and horizontal boring mills for parts small to large parts.
- Operate overhead cranes and handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Ability to work unsupervised

Education Requirement: High School Certificate or equivalent; Red Seal Certification or equivalent from foreign country Experience Requirement: Minimum of 5 years of related machinist experience
