Rise to the challenge

Rise People is a Canadian technology company building HR, payroll, and group benefits software for small and midsize businesses across the country. Our platform connects the work of hiring, paying, managing, and supporting employees, helping employers spend less time on administration and more time building the businesses they believe in.

We combine deep Canadian payroll and benefits expertise with practical AI capabilities that help teams find answers, understand their data, and get work done. Headquartered in Vancouver, we’re proudly building a modern Canadian alternative to global incumbents, giving small teams the technology and support to achieve more.

About the role

Every Rise client starts with onboarding. It's the first time a business trusts us with its payroll and its people's data, and how it goes sets the tone for years. We want every client to finish onboarding feeling like we went out of our way for them.

That's where you come in. You'll lead the team that takes new clients from a signed contract to an accurate first payroll and a clean handoff to our Support team. Most of the job is running the core work tightly and consistently: clean data, correct configuration, and timelines clients can plan around. The rest is the part clients remember. Think of a go-live that feels like a milestone worth celebrating, or a handoff where nobody has to explain their setup twice.

You'll have real room to build. You'll shape how onboarding runs, coach a team across Canada, and use AI to take repetitive work off your team's plate so they can spend more time with clients. You'll report to our Director, Client Experience. If you're client-obsessed and a broken process bugs you until you've fixed it properly, you'll love this role.

The day-to-day

- Lead, hire, and coach a team of onboarding specialists across Canada,

with regular feedback and honest conversations about growth and performance.
- Own the client's onboarding from kickoff and discovery through configuration, go-live, and handoff to Support, and design the personal touches that make a standard process feel like it was built for them.
- Set the quality bar for data and configuration so a client's first payroll is right the first time, with quality assurance checks that catch issues before the client does.
- Join the most sensitive client conversations yourself, including escalation calls, and show your team how to handle them calmly and clearly.
- Find what's slowing the team down and fix the root cause, using AI tools and automation to give your team time back.
- Partner closely with Sales, Support, Product, and Finance, because at Rise we're better as one team. Kick off shared projects with clear goals, timelines, and owners, then follow up after launch to make sure the change stuck.
- Keep a pulse on every measure of client success, including on-time go-lives, time to go-live, first-payroll accuracy, and satisfaction at handoff. Speak confidently to those numbers and lead the charge to improve them.

About you

- 4+ years in client onboarding, implementation, or customer success, with 2+ years leading a team.
- Experience in payroll, HR tech, fintech, or similar regulated SaaS. You know why a first payroll has to be right the first time.
- You see things from the client's side without being asked. You think about how a process feels to someone using it for the first time, and you design for that.

- You stay clear and calm with clients and colleagues when the conversation gets hard.
- You coach people to grow. You have honest conversations early, and you've helped struggling performers turn things around.
- When something breaks, you find out why and build a fix that holds.
- You're comfortable building with AI tools and automation, and you teach your team to do the same.
- You keep cross-team work moving and close the loop after launch.
- Bonus: National Payroll Institute certification (PCP or CPM), completed or in progress.
- Bonus: Bilingual proficiency in French.
