Support Clinical Chemistry and diagnostic services as a Medical Laboratory Assistant at IWK Health’s Halifax location, working permanent part time hours.

IWK Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant for Clinical Chemistry, NB Screening & ROT, Diagnostic Services, and Maritime Medical Genetics. This position handles laboratory functions including venous and capillary collections, blood specimen processing, reagent preparation, and sterilization. Candidates need a certified Medical Lab Assistant course, CSMLS certification or eligibility, and NSRMLS licensure or eligibility. Experience in a similar laboratory and MEDITECH experience are assets.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform venous and capillary blood collections
- Complete blood specimen processing activities




- Prepare reagents for assigned laboratory functions
- Clean and sterilize equipment and work areas
- Perform related laboratory duties as required

Requirements:

- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Required English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalents
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work with others and within teams
- Willingness to learn and perform computer functions
