We are seeking an Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support Dr. Joel Schacher in providing exceptional patient care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and assisting with various orthodontic procedures.
The hours for this position are Monday and Thursday 845 to 5, Tuesday 745 to 3. These three days are in Mississauga on Fridays, we travel as a team to Brantford. We alternate between Brant Smiles and Cornerstone Dentistry. The hours on Fridays are 845 to 4 (we will be moving some of these Fridays to Mississauga or booked off in the New Year).
Duties
- Assist the Orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures, including placement and adjustment of braces and appliances
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
- Take dental radiographs, photos and records and impressions as needed
- Manage patient records using dental software Orthotrac
- Provide patient education on Orthodontic care, oral hygiene, and appliance maintenance
- Willingness to learn a recent bracketing system, Pitts 21
- Take notes and commit to memory details of the bracketing system
Skills
- Knowledge of Orthodontic procedures, appliances, and materials
- Level Two Dental Assistant with an NDAEB diploma preferred
- Experience working with an Orthodontic specialist as opposed to a general Dentist
