Provide psychiatric emergency nursing at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario, using crisis intervention, assessment, and conflict resolution skills.
As a regular part-time Registered Nurse, you will support the Mental Health Crisis Program through varied shifts, including days, nights, evenings, and weekends. Recent mental health nursing experience is required, with demonstrated ability to care for patients with reliable mental illness. The position values emergency psychiatry or emergency care experience and knowledge of addiction and withdrawal treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop therapeutic relationships and engage patients
- Complete Mental Status Examinations and documentation
- Apply psychopharmacology knowledge,
including medication side effects
- Maintain safe environments for clients, families, and teams
- Resolve conflicts and respond to crises
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- One year recent mental health nursing experience
- Current BCLS certification required
- CPI Crisis Prevention Training required
- Emergency psychiatry or emergency care experience preferred
