About the role

Manulife is hiring a full time remote Underwriter. The role involves assessing and classifying risk, making customer-focused decisions, and collaborating with sales, head office, and other partners.

Responsibilities

- Assess and classify risk according to Manulife's philosophy and standards.
- Collaborate with sales and head office colleagues to deliver quality, competitive decisions.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ensure customer interactions support a positive experience.
- Comply with consumer laws and regulations related to risk classification, confidentiality, and disclosure.
- Identify and propose solutions to problems and procedures related to underwriting work.

Qualifications

- At least 3 years of underwriting experience and $1,000,000 or more in life signing authority.
- Working toward or completion of FALU, FLMI,



and ACS designations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and non-medical mortality risks.
- Experience with financial reports and anti-money-laundering practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, sales orientation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Bilingual English and French is an asset; it is required for successful candidates in Québec to support clients outside Québec.
- Preferred: $100,000 or more in CI authority, a related university or college degree, negotiation skills, and experience with co-signing, referral reviews, or mentoring.

Compensation

Expected salary range: $70,500–$117,500 CAD per year. Incentive compensation may also be available. Actual salary varies based on location and job-related factors.
