ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Eastern Rural Zone invites applications for two (2) permanent full-time Fee-For-Service Hospitalist Physicians at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin, NL. These positions are available immediately.

The Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre provides health care services to a catchment area of approximately 18,000 people and serves as an important regional health centre for the Burin Peninsula,

while also supporting two local Category B hospitals — the U.S. Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence and the Dr. S. Beckley Health Care Centre in Grand Bank.

Hospitalist physician coverage is generally solo, with Nurse Practitioner support from 08:30am-4:30pm on weekdays. Hospitalist shifts are 24 hours of coverage for 7 consecutive days, with handover occurring Monday mornings. Physicians will work an average of 1–2 weeks per month.

A shared 0.5 FTE appointment may potentially be considered as an alternative to a full time position, or in combination with other clinical duties such as emergency room coverage, chemotherapy clinics, or family medicine clinic.

The hospital has access to comprehensive specialist and hospital-based support including General Surgery, Anesthesia, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and the Hospitalist Program.
