Support students at North Island College in Port Alberni through educational counselling, crisis intervention, and career guidance in a 50% sessional appointment.

Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs, the Counsellor provides services within Student Services. The position supports adult learners adjusting to academic life, connects students with resources, and contributes to recruitment programs. Counselling may occur on campus or remotely through Skype or other means.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide short term crisis intervention and outside agency referrals
- Deliver educational counselling for adult learners
- Assist students with employment and career goals
- Teach seminars supporting student success and retention
- Provide institutional guidance,



support, and mediation

Requirements:

- Master’s degree in Counselling or equivalent
- Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association or equivalent
- Postsecondary crisis, career, and educational counselling experience desirable
- Knowledge of social services and College programs
- Microsoft Office, Windows, internet, and student records proficiency
