Quality Assurance Assistant - Contract (6 months)

Nordic Minesteel Technologies (NMT) is seeking an organized and detailed-oriented Quality Assurance Assistant to support our Quality Assurance team on a contract basis.

The primary focus of this position will be assisting with the administration and tracking of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring information is accurately documented, corrective actions are followed up and records are maintained through to closure.

Working under the direction of the Quality Assurance Coordinator, the successful candidate will communicate with various departments to gather information, monitor outstanding actions and support the timely resolution of nonconformances.

The position will also assist with other Quality Management System (QMS) activities to support ISO 9001 compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Nonconformance Reporting (NCR) Support

- Log, update and maintain NCRs and associated records.
- Gather information and supporting documentation from Production, Engineering, Quality and other departments.
- Maintain and update Excel-based NCR tracking logs, organize supporting documentation and manage email correspondence to ensure outstanding information,



corrections and corrective actions are followed up on and accurately recorded.
- Monitor outstanding NCRs and follow up with responsible personnel regarding corrections and corrective actions.
- Track NCR progress and maintain accurate status updates through to closure.
- Assist with ensuring NCR documentation is complete and properly filed.
- Support the Quality Assurance Coordinator in identifying overdue NCRs, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare NCR tracking summaries, reports and related quality metrics.

Quality Management System Support

- Assist with maintaining QMS documentation, procedures, forms and records.
- Provide administrative support for internal audits, including documentation and follow-up of audit findings.
- Assist with quality-related data collection and KPI reporting.
- Support ISO 9001 compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related Quality Assurance duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and familiarity with Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective action processes.




- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, sorting, filtering, tables and conditional formatting to maintain tracking logs and prepare reports.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word, including managing email correspondence, organizing documentation and following up on outstanding requests.
- Experience maintaining accurate electronic records, tracking multiple action items and compiling data for reporting purposes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to independently monitor deadlines and follow up with responsible personnel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to request information and follow up with employees at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain progress on assigned tasks while working under the direction of the Quality Assurance Coordinator.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis, internal audits and continuous improvement practices is an asset.
- Experience with ERP systems is an asset.
- Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments, including regular time on the production floor and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Equivalent combinations of relevant manufacturing experience, quality assurance knowledge and robust administrative /computer skills will be considered. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
