As a Staff Software Engineer, you will build Maximum’s core banking platform, including ledger, payments, cards, products, and compliance systems. You will own domain services, write code on difficult paths, and guide AI coding agent practices. Your work will span APIs, workflows, schemas, and service interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Own service boundaries, gRPC contracts, event schemas, and data flows
- Design replay-safe, idempotent, and resumable workflows
- Resolve reconciliation and event ordering across services
- Lead migrations and schema changes against live data




- Raise engineering standards through reviews and difficult problem pairing

Requirements:

- Several years shipping backend services in a statically typed language
- Solid Go, Java, C#, Rust, or TypeScript experience
- Deep SQL knowledge covering isolation, query plans, indexing, and migrations
- Experience leading distributed systems spanning multiple services
- Clear technical writing and strong testing judgment
