Advise on family maintenance law within BCFMA’s Kamloops office, supporting staff and court representation across British Columbia. This is a full time position.

The BC Family Maintenance Agency seeks Legal Counsel for its in-house Legal team. Reporting to the Employer Designate, you will advise Directors, Case Managers, Enrolment Services Advisors, and other staff. The work covers legislation, regulations, policy, procedures, case management, and family or enforcement law matters.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide advice on all aspects of family maintenance law
- Advise staff on enrolment and eligibility matters
- Address payment allocation, distribution, and arrears calculations
- Support administrative and court enforcement actions
- Consult on changes involving BCFMA processes

Requirements:

- Maintain good standing with the Law Society of B.C.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
- Maintain knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Prepare to represent BCFMA in provincial courts
- Provide specialized family maintenance law advice
