Advocate for vulnerable clients in Toronto and the GTA through complex criminal litigation, trial representation, and client-focused legal advice at Legal Aid Ontario.

As Senior Counsel, you will handle criminal matters for eligible clients, including those facing mental health, housing, substance use, or other barriers. You will work with LAO lawyers, paralegals, Legal Aid Workers, private counsel, and multidisciplinary teams. The program provides full representation, court appointments, mentorship, and access to justice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Carry eligible criminal matters through trial representation
- Conduct complex bail, fitness, NCR, and ORB hearings
- Accept court appointments and advance appropriate litigation
- Provide clear advice and conduct client meetings




- Research, draft documents, and manage case files

Requirements:

- Valuable-standing membership in the Law Society of Ontario
- Substantial recent criminal law experience and demonstrated expertise
- Experience before Ontario’s trial courts, including contested trials
- Knowledge of Canadian criminal law, procedure, and the Charter
- Excellent advocacy, communication, analysis, and judgment skills
