About Us
Children Matter Community Services (CMCS) provides staffed residential services for children and youth with diverse needs. Our approach is grounded in relationships, connection, and belonging. We believe every young person deserves to feel safe, heard, accepted, and supported to grow.
Our values of Integrity, Respect, Transparency, Advocacy, and Acceptance guide how we support young people, work alongside families and care teams, and lead our staff.
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, organized Residence Coordinator to work alongside the Program Manager in supporting the daily operation of a staffed home, guiding the staff team, and coordinating individualized care.
This role combines hands-on support with supervision, service planning, and administrative responsibilities. You will help translate each young person’s goals and support needs into consistent daily practice, while ensuring staff have the guidance and confidence to provide thoughtful, responsive care.
What You’ll Do
Coordinate individualized care
- Lead the development and implementation of SHSS Service Plans in collaboration with children, youth, and their Care Circle.
- Support assessment, goal setting, case management, and care planning that reflect each young person’s strengths, needs, preferences, and voice.
- Develop transition plans alongside the Program Manager and relevant care team members.
- Monitor progress and collaborate with the care team to adjust support strategies as needs change.
- Coordinate access to additional services and opportunities that support relationships, independence, and community involvement.
Support and guide the staff team
- Provide direct supervision and practical guidance to help staff deliver consistent care aligned with service plans.
- Facilitate staff training and help team members understand and apply individualized support strategies.
- Participate in case conferences and communicate care updates, responsibilities,
and follow-up actions clearly.
- Model respectful communication, sound judgment, and compassionate responses to challenging situations.
Maintain a secure, supportive home
- Provide direct support to children and youth, including Youth Support Worker or awake overnight duties as required.
- Respond to distress and crises using appropriate intervention strategies and established safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized crisis management plans.
- Ensure the home’s cleanliness, safety, security, and maintenance meet applicable standards.
- Maintain household supplies and coordinate practical needs within the home.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation and keep care records current.
Build collaborative relationships
- Work closely with the Program Manager, families, guardianship workers, professionals, and community partners.
- Support coordinated care through clear communication and shared planning.
- Advocate for meaningful opportunities for children and youth to participate in their communities.
Who Will Thrive in This Role You are a compassionate, dependable leader who enjoys supporting both young people and the staff who care for them. You build trusting relationships, communicate clearly, and balance empathy with consistent expectations.
You are organized and comfortable moving between direct care, staff guidance, documentation, and planning. When situations become challenging, you remain calm, think critically, and adapt your approach. You welcome feedback, follow through on commitments,
and help others build their skills and confidence.
You understand that effective care comes from knowing each young person as an individual and working collaboratively with the people important to them.
What You Bring
- A diploma in a related human or social services field.
- Three years of recent related experience, including at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Specific training in behavioural support, supporting children under 12 with diverse needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based, trauma-informed interventions.
- Strong communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to guide staff and put individualized care strategies into practice.
- An unrestricted Class 5 driver’s licence and a driver’s abstract that meets CMCS policy.
- Ability to successfully complete the required Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development CCRC check.
