SIRIUS INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROLS

THE ORGANIZATION

Sirius designs and manufactures chemical injection systems and instrumentation packages for upstream and midstream oil and gas operators. Their equipment runs in some of the harshest production environments in the world - Western Canada, the Permian, and increasingly the Middle East, Africa and Latin America - where precision matters and downtime costs money. Sirius is a growing, privately backed manufacturer that continues to invest in its people, products and systems, with engineering playing a central role.

Sirius's Core Values define their culture, drive their work, and guide their commitment to excellence. They are the operating standard for every member of the engineering team - and the Director, Product Engineering is expected to model and reinforce them.

Core Values:

Continuous Innovation: Innovation begins with listening to understand and transforms curiosity into impactful solutions. It is a continuous improvement loop that channels learning back into our products, processes, and people.

Integrity: We do what we say we will do. We take responsibility for our actions and own our commitments to become trusted advisors that clients rely on.

Collaboration: We achieve excellence by working together with trust, humility, open communication, and a shared purpose. Collaboration means ownership across every step of the process.

THE PROSPECT

The Director, Product Engineering leads the company’s engineering team - mechanical, electrical, and firmware - across new product development, sustaining engineering, and engineering change management.

The role reports to the President & CEO and works closely with the senior leadership team.

This is a hands-on leadership role with direct ownership of engineering delivery. The successful candidate steps into a department with active product programs in flight, an engineering team positioned to scale, and a clear set of expectations: deliver the current portfolio to commitment, build the engineering processes and KPIs that a scaling manufacturer requires, lead engineering’s contribution to the company’s product lifecycle management (PLM) and ERP integration, and develop the team and its emerging leaders.

The work is technical, the standards are high, and the culture is grounded in three values that show up in how the team operates every day: continuous innovation, integrity, and collaboration. The Director, Product Engineering, is expected to lead by those values and reinforce them across the function.

Designed as a growth role, this position offers a clear pathway to progress into more senior leadership roles based on performance and demonstrated impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In support of the organization's strategic objectives, the successful candidate will be accountable for the following key responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Team Development

- Lead and develop a cross-disciplinary engineering team - currently six engineers across mechanical,

electrical, and firmware - with a clear expectation to scale the team in line with product program growth and operational footprint.
- Build bench strength within the team by identifying and developing senior engineers and emerging technical leads.
- Build and lead an engineering culture aligned with Sirius's values: continuous innovation in product and process, integrity in commitments delivered, and collaboration across functions and disciplines.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineers and technical leads while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Product Strategy & Development

- Products, not projects. Everything the team builds will be made many times, so volume, repeatability and shop floor assembly are considered from the first sketch. Parts and assemblies are easy to make, easy to put together and hard to assemble wrong. Error proofing is part of the design, not an afterthought.
- Cost aware. The team knows what a part costs to make and buy. The engineering bill of materials and standard cost are engineering deliverables, and cost is reduced without giving up reliability.
- Close to production and the field. Engineers spend time on the floor with assemblers, technicians and service, and bring build problems and field failures back into the design.
- Own the full product development lifecycle: concept, design, prototyping, validation, certification, launch, sustaining engineering, and end-of-life management.
- Improve products in production as candidates for continued development, leading second- and third-generation iterations that improve functionality. Drive product reliability, ma
