UNDERWRITING AND DATA TEAM LEAD

XN Financial Services (Canada) Inc., a Henner Group Company, is currently looking for an Underwriting and Data Team Lead to join the Property and Casualty Team.

Reporting to the Underwriting Director, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing, coaching, and developing a team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality underwriting services. This role combines leadership, data analysis expertise, and operational oversight to maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, while ensuring the achievement of departmental Objectives and strategies.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead, coach, and develop the underwriting team while fostering a positive, collaborative and performance-driven work environment.
- Manage team performance, employee development, attendance, and the application of company policies and procedures.
- Act as the primary technical resource for underwriting matters and provide guidance on complex files.
- Analyze underwriting data and key performance indicators to identify trends and recommend actions that support portfolio profitability and growth.
- Participate in risk assessment, policy renewals, and business development activities by conducting thorough analyses of risk exposures and profitability.
- Supervise the allocation of the team's workload, adjust priorities based on operational needs, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery and the achievement of departmental objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- College diploma (DEC) or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience.
- Previous supervisory, team lead, or people management experience.
- Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance products, policy wordings, and underwriting principles
- Experience assessing risk and managing complex commercial insurance accounts.
- Proficiency with underwriting systems and Microsoft Office applications
- CIP designation (or working toward completion) considered an asset.
- French is the primary working language in our Montréal office. However, due to frequent communication with stakeholders outside Québec, proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required for this position.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

- Location: Hybrid (after probation period) | 3 days at the office, Montreal, Quebec
- Schedule: Full-time – 37.5 hours/week [8.30 am to 5 pm]
- Salary range: Commensurate to experience
