Support business and accounting students at Durham College across Oshawa and Whitby through evidence-based teaching and academic coaching. This full-time position serves students in person and online.

As a Learning Specialist in Student Academic Learning Services, you will provide individualized academic support, tutorials, workshops, and learning plans. The position requires business administration or accounting expertise, adult learner experience, and proficiency developing digital resources. You will collaborate with faculty, coordinators, advisors, and internal departments to strengthen student support. Evidence-based teaching, metacognition, and science of learning principles guide your practice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess student needs and provide business or accounting academic support
- Deliver tutorials, workshops, orientations, and Start Strong sessions
- Coach students through goals,



timelines, and outcomes-based learning plans
- Develop SALS webpages, online modules, and learning resources
- Track service statistics and coordinate supports with college partners

Requirements:

- Four-year Business Administration degree or related field
- Three years’ academic support or teaching experience
- Experience teaching adult learners and addressing varied group sizes
- Proficiency creating presentations and digital learning resources
- Knowledge of evidence-based teaching, metacognition, and learning science
