SUMMARY
The Senior Platform Engineer is a senior hands-on software engineering role responsible for developing and maintaining the shared technical foundation used by multiple software products and development teams across the Technology & Engineering organization.
The role designs and implements reusable backend services, frontend application foundations, software development kits (SDKs), shared components, integration patterns, engineering templates, and platform capabilities that enable product teams to deliver independently while maintaining consistent architecture, security, quality, and user experience standards.
Working within approved enterprise technology and architecture direction, the Senior Platform Engineer collaborates closely with Architecture, Development Leads, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Data, and domain development teams to translate platform requirements into production-ready technical capabilities.
The role requires solid practical engineering capability across modern .NET, Angular, TypeScript, cloud-native development, APIs, identity and access management, data access, messaging, observability, CI/CD, and automated testing.
The Senior Platform Engineer will also actively leverage AI-assisted software development and AI-DLC practices to improve engineering productivity, testing, documentation, software quality, and delivery effectiveness while ensuring AI-generated code and solutions remain subject to appropriate engineering review and organizational standards.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Platform Engineering & Shared Services
Designs and implements reusable platform services, middleware, libraries, SDKs, components, templates, and reference implementations used across multiple development teams.
Develops shared backend capabilities using C#, modern .NET, and ASP.NET Core, including reusable service patterns and versioned NuGet packages.
Develops and maintains reusable Angular and TypeScript application foundations, SDKs, common components, navigation, routing, lifecycle, and error-handling capabilities.
Establishes reusable implementation patterns for APIs, integration, configuration, data access, caching, messaging, observability, and resilient service communication.
Supports independently developed domain applications through clear integration contracts, reusable libraries, documented standards, and appropriate application isolation.
Develops reusable patterns for PostgreSQL access, Redis caching and session storage, asynchronous processing, and event-driven integrations.
Contributes to implementation of shared platform capabilities within AWS cloud services including API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, Aurora/RDS PostgreSQL, ElastiCache, SQS, EventBridge, CloudFront, and S3 where applicable.
Publishes and maintains reusable frontend and backend packages through Azure DevOps Artifacts using appropriate versioning and dependency-management practices.
Develops reference services, application templates, and technical documentation that allow product teams to adopt shared platform capabilities efficiently.
Identifies opportunities to simplify application development through reusable capabilities, automation, standardization, and reduction of unnecessary duplication.
Supports consuming development teams in implementing platform capabilities while avoiding unnecessary dependencies or coupling between applications.
Application Security, Identify & Authorization
Implements secure authentication and application-session patterns using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) approaches.
Implements tenant-aware and resource-level authorization capabilities within approved security and architecture standards.
Ensures authoritative authorization and access-control enforcement is maintained within appropriate backend services.
Supports integration with enterprise identity providers such as Entra ID, PingFederate, or comparable identity-management platforms.
Applies secure software development practices to mitigate common application risks including XSS, CSRF, insecure API access, credential exposure, and inappropriate authorization.
Ensures shared platform components appropriately protect secrets, configuration, identity information, and sensitive application data.
Works with Cybersecurity and Architecture stakeholders to ensure platform capabilities comply with approved organizational security standards.
Implements reusable API standards and patterns covering validation, versioning, structured errors, idempotency, configuration, authentication, and service-to-service communication.
Develops production-grade REST APIs and integration services that can be consistently adopted by multiple domain teams.
Implements reliable relational database access and transactional patterns using PostgreSQL or com
