Opentext - The Information Company
OpenText is a global leader in information management, where innovation, creativity, and collaboration are the key components of our corporate culture. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to partner with the most highly regarded companies in the world, tackle complex issues, and contribute to projects that shape the future of digital transformation.
AI-First. Future-Driven. Human-Centered.
At OpenText, AI is at the heart of everything we do—powering innovation, transforming work, and empowering digital knowledge workers. We are hiring talent AI can't replace to help us shape the future of information management. Join us.
OpenText's AI Development and Enablement organization designs and delivers AI solutions that power customer-facing products, agents, and intelligent workflows. We work across the product portfolio, bringing recent ideas into applications and building the shared AI technology that helps teams innovate faster.
Your Impact
As a Senior AI Developer, you will bring software engineering experience and a working knowledge of AI to OpenText products. You will take a feature from an open question through design, implementation, release and support. You will work with product managers, architects and fellow developers to decide where AI adds value and how to tell whether it did.
We are looking for someone who takes initiative and enjoys learning through experimentation. You ask good questions about unfamiliar technology, test your assumptions against evidence and share what you learn. You think beyond your own code: how a design affects the customer, the systems it depends on and the people who will operate it.
What The Role Offers
- Taking ownership of a feature when the requirements are incomplete. You clarify the customer need, agree on what success looks like and make steady progress while bringing others in on decisions that affect them.
- Learning new AI techniques by trying them. You compare an unfamiliar approach with a simpler baseline and can explain what the evidence convinced you to adopt, change or abandon.
- Thinking across system boundaries. You consider how data, models, application services and users interact, and recognize when a local improvement could make the overall product slower, less reliable or harder to support.
- Improving how software gets built. You experiment with AI-assisted development, measure whether it improves your work and retain responsibility for the design, tests and code you ship.
- Making quality part of development. You define meaningful measures early, investigate failures and use what you learn from real usage to improve the next release.
- Building software other developers can maintain. You make interfaces clear, review changes thoughtfully and help colleagues reason through unfamiliar code and design choices.
- Working independently within a team. You communicate trade-offs, surface risks early and follow through on the operational issues that emerge after a feature ships.
What You Need To Succeed
- Experience independently delivering and supporting features in production enterprise applications. You have written and reviewed code, integrated APIs or distributed services, and worked with authentication, permissions and customer data boundaries.
- Strong software development skills in Python or Java and the ability to work across both ecosystems. Practical experience with automated tests, code review, CI/CD, observability and debugging distributed applications.
- Hands-on experience integrating language models into an application. You understand context limits, structured outputs and tool calling, and have made model choices based on quality, latency and cost.
- Practical knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), including document chunking, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, reranking and grounding. You can distinguish a retrieval failure from a generation error and evaluate whether a change improves the answer.
- Experience building with at least one agent development framework and familiarity with alternatives such as LangGraph, Google ADK and CrewAI. You understand agent state, orchestration and event-driven choreography, and when an ordinary workflow is sufficient.
- Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting agents to tools and Agent2Agent (A2A) for collaboration between agents. You can reason about permissions, handoffs, retries and failure recovery across those boundaries.
- Experience evaluating AI quality with representative test cases, regression datasets and production traces. You can assess grounding, task completion and tool-use accuracy, and use human review to check automated judgments.
- Experience with agent-assisted development patterns: supplying repository context, brea
