- The Government of Ontario is undertaking a large-scale Data& AI transformation initiative, with the Ontario Data Platform (ODP)serving as the enterprise technology ecosystem for data-driven decision-making,analytics, and artificial intelligence. ODP provides a modern and scalable dataenvironment that supports data ingestion, storage, processing, governance,quality, marketplace capabilities, and advanced analytics across ministries andgovernment organizations.

- We are seeking a Power BI Developer to support thedevelopment, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise reporting and analyticssolutions. The successful candidate will work closely with businessstakeholders, data engineers, architects, and product teams to deliverinsightful dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that enableevidence-based decision-making across government programs and services.

Requirements

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

Must Haves:

- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems,Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

- Experience developing dashboards, reports, andvisualizations using Microsoft Power BI.

- Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI datamodeling concepts.

- Experience working with SQL and relational databases.

- Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, andbusiness intelligence best practices.

- Experience working with large datasets and transformingcomplex business requirements into reporting solutions.

- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and communicationskills.





- Ability to work collaboratively with technical andnon-technical stakeholders.

- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, star schemadesign, and analytical data modelling concepts.

- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and datalineage principles.

Nice to Have:

- Experience working with Databricks, including connectingPower BI to Databricks SQL Warehouses and Lakehouse data sources.

- Familiarity with Azure Data Platform services such as AzureData Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, or MicrosoftFabric.

- Experience with enterprise data governance and data qualityinitiatives.

- Knowledge of Python, R, or other analytics tools.

- Experience supporting data and analytics platforms within alarge public-sector or enterprise environment.

- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and DevOpspractices.

Skill Set Requirements:

Power BI Development & Reporting

- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BIdashboards and reports to support business and operational needs.

- Create data models, measures, and calculations using DAX todeliver meaningful business insights.

- Implement data visualization best practices to ensurereports are intuitive, accessible, and actionable.





- Gather and analyze business requirements and translate theminto reporting solutions.

- Develop and maintain enterprise semantic models, datasets,and reusable reporting assets that support standardized analytics and reporting

- Data Integration & Analytics Support

- Connect and integrate data from various enterprise datasources, including databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and data warehouses.

- Develop and optimize Power Query (M) transformations forefficient data preparation and reporting.

- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure dataquality, governance, and consistency across reporting solutions.

- Support ad hoc data analysis and reporting requests frombusiness stakeholders.

- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and user acceptancetesting (UAT) activities to ensure reporting accuracy and integrity.

- Performance, Governance & Support

- Monitor and optimize report performance, data refreshschedules, and workspace administration.

- Apply security models, row-level security (RLS), andgovernance standards within Power BI.

- Troubleshoot data, visualization, and performance issues andprovide ongoing support to users.

- Develop and maintain documentation for reports, datasets,and reporting standards.

- Maintain data lineage, metadata, and documentation forreporting assets and semantic models.

- Ensure reporting solutions comply with organizational datagovernance, security, privacy, and accessibility standards.
