Software Engineering Manager, Enterprise

Engineering · Remote - Ontario · FullTime · Senior level

This role leads the engineering group that builds and customizes Spellbook for large enterprise customers, blending people management with program leadership. The person turns urgent deal requests and roadmap bets into a sequenced plan, runs fast pre-sales prototypes, and keeps delivery moving across other teams. A strong candidate brings engineering leadership in a quick moving setting, comfort working with sales on enterprise deals, solid system design skills, and the judgment to say no and protect team focus.

How it fits the AI era

The product itself is an AI copilot for contract work, so the team ships AI features and the manager is expected to push adoption of coding agents and automated review. Much of the judgment stays human: deciding which prototype becomes product, weighing tradeoffs with sales, and setting quality standards.

The role sits where AI speed meets enterprise demands like integrations and data residency.

How it builds AI experience

The job offers hands on exposure to building LLM based products and agent workflows for legal teams, plus leading rapid prototyping with coding agents. A candidate can build this by using coding agents on real delivery work and showing concrete speed or quality gains, and by learning how enterprise integrations and compliance needs shape AI features. Prior work on LLM products or agent workflows is listed as a plus, not a requirement.
