Apply machine learning and large language model expertise through a paid twelve-month Residency building real estate appraisal AI systems. Work with Amii scientists and ModeDi regularly.

The Machine Learning Resident develops applied AI for ModeDi, a Manitoba-based technology company modernizing real estate data workflows. You will contribute to a secure LLM system combining internal and public data for property analysis. The work involves retrieval-augmented generation, document understanding, confidence estimation, and agentic AI systems. You will report to an Amii Scientist and collaborate with a cross-functional project team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and evaluate secure LLM systems supporting appraisal workflows
- Develop retrieval pipelines for planning documents and zoning bylaws




- Build citation-grounded generation and confidence estimation components
- Create benchmarks, testing suites, and evaluation infrastructure
- Collaborate with stakeholders on MVP and client-focused solutions

Requirements:

- Completed MSc or PhD in relevant computer science specialization
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation or LLM question answering
- Proficiency in Python and contemporary AI frameworks
- Familiarity with Linux, Git, and clean code
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
