Applied Research Scientist needed for cosmetic innovation, ingredient discovery, and formulation science at DECIEM’s Liberty Village Toronto Head Office. This is an on-site contract.

DECIEM seeks an Applied Research Scientist for a 12-month contract supporting The Ordinary, NIOD, AVESTAN, and emerging brands. The scientist translates raw material research and emerging technologies into product concepts, collaborating across scientific teams. Responsibilities span ingredient selection, proof-of-concept testing, technical guidance, and formulation robustness.

Key Responsibilities:

- Research cosmetic actives, modes of action, and biological pathways
- Recommend delivery systems supporting efficacy and claim substantiation
- Develop proof-of-concept testing strategies with Clinical and Analytical teams




- Lead scientific product concepts for new product developments
- Troubleshoot product issues through root-cause analysis and action plans

Requirements:

- Three-plus years researching topical applications or ingredient selection
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field
- Technical knowledge of cosmetic formulation technology and active ingredients
- Practical knowledge of stability issues in cosmetic formulations
- Robust knowledge of GLP, GMP, and applicable regulatory requirements
