As a public sector organization, we offer the opportunity to work on complex, meaningful initiatives where strong technology delivery contributes to the resilience of an organization that serves people across Ontario. We are looking for an experienced IT Project Director to lead a significant portfolio of technology modernization and remediation work. This multi-year program is focused on addressing technology debt and risk while modernizing and strengthening the resilience, security and sustainability of WSIB's technology environment.
This is an individual contributor role focused on program and project leadership rather than direct people management. - Develop and integrate multi‑year, multi‑phase implementation plans across multiple project workstreams.
- Manage dependencies, risks, issues, constraints and competing priorities across interconnected technology initiatives.
- Provide strong project and program governance, including reporting, escalation and communication to senior leadership and IT governance forums.
- Manage significant project budgets, financial forecasts, change requests and project financial reporting.
- Develop resource plans and coordinate project resources across technical teams, addressing resource conflicts and delivery constraints.
- Partner closely with Architecture, Application Delivery, Infrastructure, Security, IT Finance and other technology teams.
- Build solid relationships with senior IT leaders and bring together stakeholders with different priorities to drive decisions and maintain momentum.
- Manage third‑party vendors and procurement requirements, including supporting contract and service‑level agreement negotiations and holding vendors accountable for delivery.
- Lead through influence, providing direction and coordination to multidisciplinary project teams without having direct people‑management responsibility.
- Champion WSIB project management methodologies and recognized PMI practices.
What You'll Bring
Strong IT and technology project delivery experience is essential. You will be leading complex technical initiatives and need enough depth and experience to effectively work with, challenge and coordinate specialized technology teams and leaders.
We Are Looking For Someone With
- 7-10+ years of progressively senior project/program management experience, with substantial experience leading complex technology initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent IT projects or interconnected project workstreams, ideally as a Program Manager, Project Director, or highly experienced Senior IT Project Manager level.
