Investigate marine sediment archives of environmental change with the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research. Bring carbonate analysis and research vessel experience to this part-time doctoral project.
The Geoecology and Carbonate Sedimentology working group studies Pleistocene to Holocene sequences from tropical marine environments. The doctoral research centers on sediment cores from the Red Sea and northwest Australia, including upcoming SO333 work. You will combine sample processing, carbonate sedimentology, paleoecological analysis, collaboration, and publication preparation within larger projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze carbonate sediments and sedimentary archives
- Interpret environmental signals in marine sequences
- Prepare and follow up the SO333 cruise
- Coordinate with national and international partners
- Write publications with the project team
Requirements:
- MSc in Geology with relevant sedimentology focus
- Carbonate sedimentology experience, including facies analysis
- Modern or fossil tropical carbonate experience is favorable
- Willingness to participate in a five-week offshore expedition
- Robust collaboration and communication skills
Develop sediment archive research skills through carbonate analysis, environmental interpretation, and international marine project collaboration.
