Job Overview

Café Landwer Kingsway is looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Shift Manager to join our management team.

As a Shift Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations, leading the front-of-house team, maintaining service standards, and ensuring each shift runs smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate leads by example, takes initiative, holds team members accountable, and knows how to balance operational efficiency with outstanding guest service.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and oversee daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service throughout each shift.
- Supervise, coach, and support servers, hosts, and bar staff to maintain Café Landwer's service standards.
- Ensure all team members consistently follow the restaurant's Steps of Service and operational procedures.
- Actively manage the dining room, monitor service flow, and ensure guests receive timely and attentive service.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and hold team members accountable for their assigned duties.
- Handle guest concerns and complaints professionally, taking appropriate action to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar teams to maintain efficient communication and service timing.
- Monitor staffing levels, breaks, and labour costs while maintaining appropriate service coverage.
- Ensure opening and closing procedures, daily checklists, and shift responsibilities are completed accurately.
- Oversee cash handling, POS transactions,



and end-of-shift reconciliation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety and health regulations.
- Identify operational challenges and proactively implement solutions to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing feedback, training, and coaching to support employee development and performance.
- Ensure all corporate directives, operational updates, and company initiatives are effectively communicated, implemented, and consistently followed by the team.
- Communicate shift updates, operational concerns, and staff performance feedback to the General Manager.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant supervisory or management role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of front-of-house restaurant operations and service standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold a team accountable.
- A guest-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make decisions in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and restaurant opening and closing procedures.
- Understanding of labour management and staffing efficiency is an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends,



and holidays.
