The Psychiatric Emergency Registered Nurse works with emergency and mental health teams to coordinate care for psychiatric patients. The RN/RPN provides assessments, counselling, medication monitoring, documentation, education, and clinical guidance. The role includes supporting violence de-escalation, suicide prevention, seclusion and restraint practices, quality improvement, and emergency protocols while assisting patients and families with community resources.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide direct psychiatric nursing care and counselling
- Collaborate with emergency, hospital, and community providers
- Educate patients, families, staff, and students




- Support protected management during restraint-related practices
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management

Requirements:

- BCCNM registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse
- One year of recent acute psychiatric experience
- Specialty adolescent psychiatry training or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment
- Ability to make appropriate emergency clinical decisions
