Lead advanced IP telecommunications operations at BC Hydro, supporting reliability across microwave radio and fibre optic networks throughout British Columbia. As Grid Telecom Operations Specialist Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for BC Hydro’s complex grid telecommunications network. The work includes outage support, operational risk assessment, laboratory testing, restoration strategies, and collaboration with engineering teams and vendors. You will guide project delivery and operational evolution. Key Responsibilities:

Provide advanced leadership for complex IP telecommunications network operations Support outages, severe weather events, wildfires, and disruptions Coordinate investigations involving multiple stakeholders and network issues Guide testing, commissioning, provisioning,



and systems integration Develop restoration strategies and operational improvement practices Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian universities Registration or immediate eligibility for P.Eng. with EGBC Ten or more years’ electrical utility telecommunications experience Experience with microwave radio, MPLS, optical transport, multiplexors, and routing Experience coordinating projects and managing project resources Apply advanced engineering judgment, outage support, and telecom expertise to BC Hydro’s reliable grid network operations.
