About the role
Help turn a national sport-based donor recruitment strategy into coordinated delivery.
Canadian Blood Services is looking for an experienced Marketing Project Manager to support the development and implementation of a new national sport-based donor recruitment initiative, working closely with the Partnership Manager, Marketing Manager and cross-functional teams.
Canadian Blood Services is excited to launch a community-based recruitment program designed to harness the reach, influence and culture of sport to inspire participation, strengthen connections with younger and more diverse audiences, and build a sustainable pipeline of new donors.
The Marketing Project Manager will provide the integrated planning, governance and delivery coordination that enable those partnerships to translate into coordinated recruitment activities. Working with the Partnership Manager, Marketing Manager and functional leads, they will turn an evolving strategy and partner commitments into clear workstreams, deliverables, timelines and accountabilities.
The initiative will involve national, regional and local activities across Partnerships, Recruitment, Marketing, Communications, Digital, CRM, Analytics, agencies and external partners. The Project Manager will connect these workstreams, manage dependencies and delivery risks, and ensure decisions and commitments are visible. They will support partner-facing delivery planning without taking ownership of partnership strategy or relationship management.
Basketball and hockey will be the initial areas of focus. The Project Manager will help establish a repeatable delivery approach that can support expansion into additional sports and communities over time.
- Lead the overall project management and integrated delivery plan for the national sport-based donor recruitment initiative, translating the strategy into clear workstreams, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and accountability.
- Work closely with both the Marketing Manager and Partnership Manager and functional leads to ensure strategic priorities are translated into actionable project deliverables, timelines and implementation plans.
- Establish and maintain project-management tools and controls, including project plans, decision logs, action trackers, milestone reporting and project health reporting.
- Proactively identify, assess and manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, developing mitigation plans with accountable business owners and escalating issues when required.
- Support budget and resource planning by tracking project requirements, commitments, emerging pressures, and impacts on the overall delivery plan.
- Coordinate activities involving agencies and external partners, ensuring their deliverables and timelines are integrated into the broader project plan.
- Prepare concise project status reports and materials for project sponsors, leadership and governance groups, clearly communicating progress, upcoming milestones, risks, issues, decisions required and areas requiring escalation.
- Facilitate project retrospectives and lessons learned, using insights from initial basketball and hockey work to strengthen the delivery approach as the model expands to additional sports.
