Description
Who We Are
Mission: At Clever Digital Marketing, we are on a mission to empower large-scale home improvement companies by fueling their top-line revenue through innovative digital marketing strategies. By bridging the gap in the industry for a highly profitable digital lead vendor, we've created a unique space where growth isn't just supported - it's catalyzed.
Product: Clever Digital Marketing delivers outcome-driven paid advertising and strategic advising solutions. We don't focus on clicks and impressions - we focus on net sales. Our customized, data-driven strategies are tailored to each client's unique needs, ensuring measurable impact and scalable profitability across Google, Meta, and Microsoft ad platforms.
Scale: Recognized by the Globe and Mail as the #1 Fastest-Growing Company in the Marketing & Advertising category and #42 across all of Canada, we are the growth engine behind some of North America's most ambitious home improvement brands - companies on track to generate over $500 million in combined revenue in 2026. With a team of 100+ across North America, $74M in digital ad spend managed, and 400,000+ leads generated, we've built something rare: a system where scale isn't luck. It's engineering.
Impact: As trusted subject matter experts in the home improvement space, we are redefining what it means to deliver value. Our commitment to authenticity, collaboration, and continuous improvement ensures we remain a powerhouse of growth and measurable results for every client we serve. We don't do lead generation - we do revenue generation.
The Honest Truth About This Role
Our Data & Technology group has outgrown informal coordination. The group spans the Data Integrations & Engineering teams (our GCP-native Data Platform 2.0 and Google/Meta/Bing ad platform integrations), IT Security, and Compliance - including our SOC 2 readiness program and IT Security Plan. These workstreams compete for the same small set of technical hands, and today there is no dedicated delivery owner. Priorities collide, dependencies surface late, and important-but-not-urgent security and compliance work slips behind feature delivery.
You'll fix that. You won't inherit clean systems - you'll build them. So let's be direct about who we're looking for: a superb communicator & hands-on builder who has run technical programs before, not someone who needs a playbook handed to them.
One boundary to be explicit about up front: you own the how, you facilitate the what. Delivery process, tracking, cadences, and risk management are yours to design and drive. What gets prioritized - roadmap and resourcing calls - you frame clearly for the leaders who decide. If you need roadmap authority to feel effective, this isn't your role. If making complex decisions easier and business-critical delivery more predictable is what energizes you, keep reading.
Key Responsibilities
What You'll Do
Own Portfolio Visibility and Delivery
- Build and maintain a single source of truth for status, dependencies, risks, and resourcing across data platform, integrations, IT security, and compliance workstreams
- Run portfolio-level planning: sequence work across projects, surface conflicts before they become fire drills, and keep leadership informed without meetings-as-status-reports
- Flag slippage, resourcing conflicts, and scope creep early - with options attached, not just alarms
Drive Security and Compliance Programs
- Own delivery of SOC 2 readiness: evidence collection, control implementation tasks, access reviews, vendor risk assessments, policy work, and audit milestones - coordinated with internal subject matter experts, our compliance partners, and auditors
- Drive execution of the IT Security Plan: turn it into sequenced, owned, tracked work, and keep it moving alongside feature delivery competing for the same engineers
- Operate with a least-privilege mindset: you'll touch access-adjacent process (access reviews, onboarding/offboarding checklists, vendor intake) and are expected to flag scope-of-access questions rather than route around them
Run Right-Sized Agile Process
- Adapt process to team size - we're a small, senior unit, not a 200-person scaled-agile org
- Own delivery cadence for the technical team - planning, standups, retros, backlog hygiene - process that serves delivery, not ceremony for its own sake
- Protect the team's focus: manage intake so mid-sprint asks get triaged, not silently absorbed
- Architect how the technical portfolio runs in Asana: templates, custom
