WELDER – BUILT FOR PRECISION. DRIVEN BY PRIDE.
KG Industries Ltd. | Cawston, British Columbia
Imagine a world where what you build makes a difference.
Where skilled craftsmanship powers the toughest industries. Where innovation solves real-world challenges. Where quality isn't just inspected at the end — it's built into every step.
At KG Industries Ltd. (KGI), we're building that world.
For over 45 years, we've been engineering and manufacturing specialty heavy-duty trailer axles that keep industries moving. From forestry and mining to heavy haul and off-highway transportation, our products are built to perform when failure isn't an option.
We Advance Specialty Transportation.
And we're looking for a Welder who takes pride in building something that matters.
We're not just building axles. We're building a team that delivers.
You'll join a skilled, hardworking manufacturing team in Cawston, BC, where welders, machinists, engineers, and assembly professionals work together to turn complex challenges into reliable solutions.
We're a family-grown Canadian manufacturer with customers across North America and beyond. We don't believe in cutting corners or settling for good enough.
Every weld matters. Every team member contributes. Every improvement makes us stronger.
Your work will directly impact the strength, safety, and reliability of equipment our customers depend on every day.
Our culture isn't for everyone. And that's intentional.
We put quality above all — because our reputation is built on what we deliver.
We take ownership, work as one team, and hold ourselves accountable to high standards.
We learn, adapt, and improve — because yesterday's best is tomorrow's starting point.
Still reading? Good. Now ask yourself something.
Do you take pride in laying down a weld that speaks for itself?
Do you care about getting it right, even when nobody is watching?
Do you show up ready to work, solve problems, and make the people around you better?
Are you someone who sees a challenge and thinks, "Let's figure it out" instead of "That's not my job"?
If you're not saying "HELL YEAH!" inside right now, this probably isn't the opportunity for you.
But if you are, keep reading.
THE OPPORTUNITY: WELDER
Your Mission
Create precision-driven, high-quality welds that strengthen KGI's products and reputation while contributing to a secure, efficient, and high-performing manufacturing team.
You're not here to simply join pieces of steel.
You're here to bring technical drawings to life. To build products that withstand demanding environments. To take ownership of your craftsmanship and continuously raise the bar.
Your success will be measured by the quality of your work, your ability to meet production commitments, your commitment to safety, and the improvements you bring to the team.
Six Things You'll LOVE Doing
- Creating welds you're proud to put your name on. Produce high-quality welded assemblies that meet demanding specifications using MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques.
- Turning blueprints into reality. Read technical drawings, interpret specifications, and use precise measurements to transform raw materials into finished components.
- Solving challenges with your hands and your head.
Troubleshoot welding issues, adjust setups, and find practical solutions that improve the finished product.
- Making every production hour count. Organize your work, manage your time, and meet production targets without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Taking ownership of your tools and workspace. Maintain welding equipment, handle materials safely, and keep your work area organized and ready for action.
- Finding better ways to get things done. Identify bottlenecks, share ideas, reduce waste, and help improve our manufacturing processes. We value people who don't just follow the process — they help make it better.
How You'll Help Advance Specialty Transportation Every axle we manufacture represents a promise to our customers: dependable performance, innovative engineering, and quality they can trust.
Your craftsmanship helps us keep that promise.
Whether the finished product is headed to a logging operation, a mine site, or a heavy-haul trailer, your attention to detail contributes directly to its reliability.
You won't just see what you've built. You'll know why it matters.
WHO YOU ARE: THE KIND OF PERSON WHO THRIVES HERE
We're looking for more than someone who knows how to weld.
We're looking for a high achiever who takes personal responsibility for their work, respects their teammates, and wants to keep getting better.
You are:
- Reliably exceptional. You show up prepared, follow through on commitments, and deliver consistent results. Your team can count on you.
- Obsessed with the details. You understand that millimetres matter. You check your work and take pride in accuracy.
- Quality-driven. You don't settle for "good enough." You would rather fix a problem than pass it down the line.
- Safety-conscious. You respect equipment, follow procedures, recognize hazards, and look out for the people working beside you.
- Technically capable. You understand welding processes, read blueprints, use measuring tools, and approach fabrication with skill and confidence.
- A natural problem-solver. When something doesn't fit or a process isn't working, you investigate, think critically, and take action.
- Efficient without cutting corners. You know how to maintain momentum while protecting the quality of your work.
- A true team player. You communicate clearly, share knowledge, accept feedback, and understand that team success matters more than individual ego.
- Adaptable and resilient. Changing priorities and difficult projects don't throw you off. You adjust, stay focused, and find a way forward.
- Driven to improve. You want to learn current techniques, sharpen your skills, and contribute ideas that make the operation stronger.
- Customer-focused. You understand that your finished work affects real businesses and people who rely on our products.
- Accountable. You own your mistakes, learn from them,
and do what it takes to make things right.
What You'll Bring to the Shop
- Practical experience with welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and/or arc welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Strong measurement skills and attention to weld quality.
- Knowledge of material preparation, equipment setup, and routine maintenance.
- Understanding of safe welding practices and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to manage assigned work and meet production schedules.
- Willingness to learn our manufacturing systems, including Genius ERP.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to teamwork.
Most importantly, you bring the attitude of someone who wants to be great at what they do.
What Success Looks Like
We believe high performers deserve clear expectations.
In this role, you'll be challenged to:
- Deliver defect-free welds on at least 95% of projects within your first six months.
- Complete assigned welding tasks within 10% of estimated timelines during your first quarter.
- Identify and contribute at least one meaningful process improvement within your first 90 days.
- Build strong working relationships with your teammates and supervisors.
- Consistently uphold safety standards and contribute to a productive, organized shop.
We don't expect perfection on day one. We do expect commitment, accountability, and the determination to improve. WHY JOIN KGI?
Because where you work matters just as much as what you do.
At KGI, you'll be part of a close-knit, values-driven team that believes in:
United in Strategy. We pull in the same direction.
Learn, Adapt, Improve. We challenge ourselves to get better.
Precision-Driven Action. We turn plans into results.
Quality Above All. We take pride in doing things right.
Authentic Connections. We treat people with respect and build relationships that matter.
As part of our team, you'll have access to extended health benefits, RRSP contributions, and opportunities for professional growth and skills development.
You'll work in a manufacturing environment where your contribution is visible, your ideas are welcome, and the products you build serve demanding industries across the world.
READY TO BUILD SOMETHING THAT MATTERS?
We're not searching for someone who simply wants another job.
We're searching for someone who wants to take pride in their craft, be part of a strong team, and leave every shift knowing they've done work that matters.
If you're a skilled, motivated Welder who believes quality is personal, we want to hear from you.
Bring your skills. Bring your work ethic. Bring your drive to improve.
