Ottawa

For safety reasons, we only consider profiles with a clear photo. We're a Swedish-Canadian-American family living in Ottawa (Carlingwood/Westboro) with two kids, Oskar (7) and Astrid (5). Our home is lively, affectionate and full of imagination, music, laughter and outdoor fun!

We're looking for an **occasional, long-term sitter/nanny with flexible availability.** This is NOT a regular part-time or full-time position. There are no guaranteed minimum hours or fixed weekly shifts.

Most of our needs are for weekend date nights, occasional evenings and sometimes last-minute help. My husband travels for work, so when I'm solo parenting or working, I may need help with school drop-off/pickup, homework, dinner or childcare.

We may also need help on PD days, school holidays or when a child is home sick. **During the summer, there may be entire weeks when we'd prefer having a nanny instead of enrolling the kids in summer camp**, so some periods could involve more substantial daytime hours.

Occasional overnight care for a short trip may also be an option once we've established a trusting relationship.

Having your own car is a plus, but not essential, as we have a spare vehicle that may be available when needed.

We're not just looking for someone sweet who can supervise our kids. We need someone **confident, proactive, creative and genuinely FUN!** Someone who takes initiative, arrives with ideas and a plan, and truly enjoys engaging with children.

Have experience caring for multiple children

- Are confident with high-energy, sensitive kids (ADHD experience is a plus!)
- Bring creative ideas,

activities and positive energy
- Can confidently take the lead and engage BOTH kids
- Enjoy outdoor adventures and exploring new places
- Are reliable, flexible and communicate well

Our wonderful current nanny is expecting a baby in January. One of the things we've loved most is how she's taken the kids on adventures all over Ottawa, discovering playgrounds, museums and new places. My husband works from home and needs quiet and privacy, so being comfortable taking the kids on outings independently is especially important during daytime care.

Creative activities, board games, LEGO, crafts and imaginative play at home are wonderful too.

**Passive babysitting doesn't work for our family.** We're not looking for someone who relies on screens or focuses on one child while the other is left to entertain themselves. Both kids need to feel seen, included and engaged.

### He loves biking, Hot Wheels, LEGO, board games and video games. He thrives on helping, taking responsibility and being the leader — we joke he'll make an excellent project manager one day!

Because she naturally takes centre stage, it's especially significant that our sitter knows how to balance both kids' personalities and make sure they both feel seen and included.

### LOOKING FOR SOMEONE LONG-TERM ❤️

Someone the kids are genuinely excited to see, who understands their personalities and becomes a familiar, trusted part of their lives.

**If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear **what connected with you in our profile, your experience with children like ours, and your general availability.**
