Support non-medical withdrawal management through harm reduction education, supportive counselling, and client supervision across multiple sites. Travel may be required.

Island Health’s Addictions and Recovery Worker provides general care services for clients dealing with substance misuse. The regular full time position includes individual risk screening, group facilitation, registration, admissions, discharges, daily living support, observation, and documentation.



The role reports to a Coordinator or designate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide non-medical withdrawal management care services
• Deliver harm reduction education and supportive counselling
• Facilitate supportive and educational groups
• Screen individual client risks and monitor health changes
• Complete registrations, admissions, discharges, and documentation

Requirements:

• Post-secondary addiction counselling certification or equivalent
• Two years of recent related experience
• Working knowledge of chemical dependency and community resources
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience supporting adults and youth with substance use issues
