Summary of DutiesRPNs are responsible for the total care of a group of residents within a Primary Nursing care delivery model within their scope of practice. The RPN supports the philosophy of Patient-Focused Care concept and principles and the Mission and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RPN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.Qualifications/SkillsCurrent Ontario College of Nurses RegistrationRPN DiplomaCurrent BCLSMinimum one year consistent experience with Foley catheterizationRecent experience caring for urology patientsExperience preparing patients for sterile urological proceduresExperience and/or demonstrated familiarity and knowledge with urological procedures such as Retrograde Pyelogram and Urethral DilationExperience in surgical setting preferredKnowledge of vasectomies, bladder scans and continuous bladder irrigation (CBIDemonstrated strong skills in patient teachingKnowledge of sterilization process/sterile techniques and procedureExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize in a stressful setting requiredExcellent computer skills required, knowledge of SRM preferredExcellent time management and organization skills
