We support this vision in the work we do, and the drive to be the first and best is clear, both inside and outside the organization.Summary of Duties:The Custodian is responsible for the performance of a variety of cleaning and minor tasks, in and around the assigned facility, in accordance with established procedures.Duties and Responsibilitiesperforms the full range of indoor and outdoor custodial duties as outlined in the Custodial Handbook using a variety of cleaning equipment.operates a variety of custodial equipment including automatic floor scrubber, tuckerpole, electric upright lift, carpet extractor, brush cleaner, basic hand tools, etc. mixes appropriate chemicals/compounds for cleaning; stores,



secures chemicals and equipment after shift.performs minor maintenance duties (e.G. replaces switch cover plates, resets circuit breakers, changes lamps in fixtures, unplugs toilets and sinks, replaces furniture glides)performs other comparable duties as assigned which are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description.Required Qualifications and Experience:Completion of high school up to and including Grade 10Building Service Worker CertificateValid BC Driver's LicenseFire Safety CourseSelf-starter with ability to organize daily tasks and work independently and as a member of a team.Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.Positive interpersonal and communication (oral) skillsPhysical ability to perform the assigned duties (including climbing ladders and scaffolds)OR an equivalent combination of training and experienceDesirable Qualifications and Experience:Certification as Building Service Worker (Division I, III, IV) by Canadian Building Servicing AssociationPrevious experience in the maintenance of commercial or school buildingsBasic Computer Skills (e-mail)Building Service Management CourseTraining in building trades
