Position OverviewPosition: Unit Clerk – Ambulatory Care ClinicLocation: Pan Am Clinic, WinnipegSalary: $22.475 – $25.982 per hourResponsibilitiesReceive and register patients, ensuring all documentation is complete.Transcribe, process, and implement physicians' orders as required.Act as the communication link for the clinic: answer telephone calls, assess urgency, and forward calls or relay messages.Obtain, assemble, and maintain patient charts.Perform additional tasks before and after patient visits to ensure effective patient care.Maintain unit supplies and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.Qualifications and SkillsPrevious related work experience preferred.High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized Unit Clerk course.Knowledge of medical terminology.Minimum keyboarding speed of 30 wpm.Fluent in written and spoken English.Good interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to work effectively in a stressful workplace with frequent interruptions.Ability to work well as part of a team.Experience maintaining a filing system.Physical RequirementsMust be able to function effectively in a stressful setting with frequent interruptions.Employment ConditionsRequires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check at the start of employment.
