The Maintenance Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of facilities and grounds within Souris Glenwood Parks and Recreation (SGPR). This position performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled custodial, maintenance, operational, and repair duties to ensure facilities, parks, and equipment are maintained to a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and functionality.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGrounds Maintenance & OperationsIdentify and report maintenance concerns and deficienciesPerform campground start-up and shutdown at Victoria Park CampgroundComplete daily maintenance of campground sitesConduct grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, and general upkeepPerform emergency and preventative maintenance repairsFollow up on assigned work orders and inspectionsGeneral Cleaning OperationsEnsure all facilities are maintained in a clean, protected, and sanitary condition including restrooms and dressing roomsFollow established procedures for cleaning materials and equipmentFacility OperationsProvide professional and courteous service to the publicPerform maintenance duties at various locations including:Victoria ParkMunicipal green spacesNorth End ParkSouris Glenwood Memorial ComplexOperate facility equipment including Zamboni and ice maintenance machineryConduct daily facility and plant inspectionsCommunicate facility status and maintenance needs with other staffPlumbing and heating system maintenancePerform preventative maintenance on building and machineryPOSITION QUALIFICATIONSSkillsAbility to work effectively and courteously with management, staff, and the publicStrong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skillsProficiency in the use of grounds maintenance equipment, hand and power tools, motorized vehicles, and small machineryAbilitiesAbility to maintain records and assist with ordering suppliesAbility to perform minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical tasksAbility to read and understand WHMIS labels and safety data sheetsAbility to safely operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, chainsaws, and weed trimmersAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to document work activities and prepare reportsWillingness to adapt to new technologies and operational improvementsWillingness to participate in training and professional developmentEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONSGrade 12, GED, or Mature High School DiplomaValid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver?s LicenceValid CPR and First Aid CertificationIce Operator or Refrigeration Certificate or willing to takeEXPERIENCEExperience operating grounds maintenance equipment and performing minor building and grounds maintenance is preferredPlease contact [email protected] or (phone hidden) for more information
