Build Toronto Hydro’s distribution system expertise through overhead and underground electrical work at multiple Toronto locations.

This Powerline Technician Apprentice supports construction, maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting under a Certified Power Line Person’s direction. The work covers low and medium voltage cables, conductors, transformers, system protection, control, instrumentation equipment, and switching operations. Successful applicants may rotate through work centres and departments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install and maintain low and medium voltage cables
- Troubleshoot overhead and underground distribution systems
- Install, maintain, and remove transformers up to 27.6kV
- Perform switching operations on primary and secondary equipment




- Follow safety rules, regulations, and established work plans

Requirements:

- Electrical or electronic college diploma, certificate, or relevant certification
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence; DZ preferred
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors
- Ability to interpret distribution construction drawings and documents
- Knowledge of applicable electrical safety legislation and workplace procedures
