Our client is looking for Cybersecurity Consultant (Network) to manage Security Change Request Review & Governance - 7428 / RQ07428

1 year contract, like will renew, Prefer someone who can be in office in downtown Vancouver 3 days a week, but open to remote for the right candidate

** * Please note that for the successful candidate will be required to provide and use their own laptop for the duration of the contract.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals:

- o TCP/IP, UDP, routing protocols, IP addressing, subnetting
- o VPNs, NAT, segmentation, and zoning

Hands-on experience with firewalls and network security technologies is an asset

Working knowledge of cloud principles with emphasis on security and identity in a hybrid environment.

Strong understanding of Firewall security best practices and hardening standards

Positive understanding of zero trust principles and network segmentation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field

Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Attention to detail in reviewing complex firewall rules and dependencies





Ability to manage high volumes of requests and prioritize effectively

Preferred Certifications

Core Networking & Security

CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

GIAC Firewall (GCFW) or GIAC Security certifications

Key Responsibilities

Security Change Request Review & Governance

Perform intake, triage, and detailed review of security change requests for completeness and accuracy. These change requests includes services such as: Firewall Requests and Internet Proxy Requests.

Review proposed firewall rules (source, destination, ports, protocol) and validate against design document(s).

Validate requests against cybersecurity standard/policies and industry frameworks (e.g., NIST)

Identify missing or unclear information and drive clarification with requestors

Participate in continuous process improvement for firewall change workflows
