(NGRC Inc.) is an accredited organization that is growing and expanding and has openings for Addictions Counsellors. The Addiction Counsellor is a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for performing duties, activities, and assignments within the vision and mission of NGRC Inc. Our beautiful recovery centre is located on the Unceded Territory of Wikwemikong on Manitoulin Island and is dedicated to the delivery of culturally based addictions treatment and prevention services.Usual work hours will be day shift, Monday to Friday, although some extended hours may be required.RESPONSIBILITIES:Work within a team-oriented approach in the delivery of services to clients, family members, and communityConduct intake applications and develop service plans with clients for the Treatment and Community-Based Programs within the scope of the organizationConduct counsellor-client interviews, counselling sessions, and assessmentsMaintain confidentiality and prepare appropriate documentation as requiredFacilitate educational and group sessions related to addiction's services and mental wellnessDevelop, facilitate, assess, and evaluate programmingParticipate in the organization's team goals of ongoing accreditation processesDaily data input and case documentation of contacts, client goals, service plans,



and progress of the clientPrepare written reports and participate in case conference reviews and team meetings as requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Post-Secondary Education in Human Services, Addictions, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in the field of Addictions CounsellingMust demonstrate qualities of a positive role model for the Anishinaabe community and adhere to the Code of EthicsKnowledge of Anishinaabe culture, language, and issues is an assetKnowledge of the services and programs within Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc.Must demonstrate positive interpersonal and communication skillsMust possess excellent written and verbal communications skillsMust demonstrate an ability to communicate well and to document the interactions accurately and appropriatelyStrong planning, organizational, and time management skillsExperience in the maintenance of confidential informationKnowledge of the Continuum of Care for addictions services, transition support and aftercare practicesValid Class G Driver's LicenseMust be willing to submit a current Driver's Abstract and a criminal reference check with a vulnerable sector screen (CPIC-VSC)ORGANIZATIONAL BENEFITS:Extended Health Care CoveragePension PlanProfessional Development OpportunitiesEmployee Family Assistance ProgramCollaborative and Dynamic Work Environment45 Minutes Paid Lunch Break
