Lead insurance defence matters, settlement negotiations, and dispute resolution as an experienced lawyer supporting complex claims in Calgary’s hybrid office workplace.
This in-house legal position offers responsibility for litigation portfolios involving insurance defence and subrogation. You will develop strategies, negotiate settlements, represent the organization in proceedings, and advise on coverage, liability, and contractual obligations. Collaboration with claims professionals and external counsel is central to the work.
Key Responsibilities: Direct claims from investigation through litigation resolution
Develop litigation strategies for complex disputes and trials
Negotiate settlements and participate in dispute resolution
Attend examinations, mediations, motions, pre-trials,



and trials
Maintain files and communicate case recommendations
Requirements: Approximately seven to eight years of relevant post-call experience
Insurance defence or in-house insurance litigation background preferred
Independent management of complex litigation matters
Knowledge of liability, subrogation, and policy interpretation
Excellent advocacy, negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
Bring independent litigation leadership, strong advocacy, and insurance law knowledge to a varied in-house portfolio in Calgary.
