Design distributed query engines and data workflows for Grafana’s cloud-native platform as a Senior Software Engineer focused on databases. Work remotely.
You will own parts of a database supporting OLAP analytics and freshly stored data through distributed execution. The position combines query engines, data formats, and reliable service boundaries for a multi-tenant SaaS foundation. It also supports retrieval through APIs, AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications.
Key Responsibilities: Build distributed query execution for analytics workloads
Develop APIs enabling quick data retrieval workflows
Design reliable multi-tenant database service boundaries
Track usage, quotas, audit logs, and background jobs
Balance experimentation with long-term production reliability
Requirements: Experience building distributed query engines
Experience building data warehouses or data lakes
Strong programming skills in Golang, C++, or Rust
Experience delivering actively used production software
Practical familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks
Apply distributed query engineering and practical AI experience to retrieval systems used across Grafana’s data platform.
