Design rocket turbopump turbines at Astrobase Space Technologies, applying turbine aerodynamics and compressible flow to liquid rocket engines. Work mainly from the office.
As a Turbine Design Engineer, you will own the turbine driving liquid rocket engine turbopumps. Your work covers turbine design, performance prediction, power matching, and test correlation. You will support reviews, manufacturing release, and testing within the Turbomachinery Department.
Key Responsibilities: Design manifolds, nozzles, rotor blades, and turbine exhausts
Perform meanline design and performance prediction
Maintain performance maps and pump-turbine power matching
Define clearances, seals, thrust, and analysis inputs
Correlate test data and drive design improvements
Requirements: Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
Two to five years of turbine design experience
Robust compressible flow and thermodynamics fundamentals
Understanding of CFD, FEA, vibration, and thermal analysis
Python or MATLAB, CAD, and GD&T; skills
