Merge is hiring mid-level through staff-level backend engineers for its Foundations team. You will support infrastructure focused on scale, performance, and reliability. The work includes architecture, roadmapping, project leadership, and peer support across engineering, design, product, and business operations.
Key Responsibilities: Participate in roadmapping and architecture discussions
Write readable, maintainable, production-ready code
Lead large projects from inception through production
Unblock engineers, designers, product managers, and business operators
Requirements: Three to seven-plus years of software engineering experience
Experience with Python and Go
Extensive knowledge of SQL databases, preferably Postgres
Ability to handle ambiguous technical challenges
Startup or SaaS experience preferred
Bring Python, Go, SQL, and infrastructure experience to Merge’s San Francisco Foundations engineering team.
