The role combines engineering leadership, career development, recruiting, and cross-functional planning across Engineering, Product Management, and Design.
Key Responsibilities: Provide mentorship and career development for software engineers
Guide two to three cross-functional Product Pods
Direct technical decisions and grow engineering leadership
Hire engineers and develop organizational processes
Lead production service monitoring,



alerting, and on-call operations
Requirements: Substantial experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
Experience building and operating highly available production services
Expertise managing on-call rotations and incident response
Experience developing in Go
Ability to evaluate complex technical tradeoffs independently
Bring people leadership, Go development, production operations, and technical decision-making to Tailscale’s distributed engineering organization.
